Regional Group Offers Hope & Help for Suicide Prevention

Offers Encourage Hope & Help is a suicide prevention website for youth in the Kansas City Area. Through education & prevention efforts, they strive to reduce youth suicide, although much of the information is helpful for all ages: https://encouragehopeandhelp.com/resources/survivors/

One thing that makes this especially helpful is that there is information for survivors, loved ones and friends. Each section contains helpful suggestions, phone numbers, web links and other resources.

Those resources also include both national and local organizations as well. Topping the national list is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline that is available 24/7 for free, confidential support. Local efforts feature the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center’s new PAUSE programming. PAUSE stands for Positive Action Under Stressful Experiences.

Another resource is in Platte County: HOPE AFTER SUICIDE LOSS SUPPORT GROUP is a compassionate, confidential and non-judgmental face to face support group open to anyone who has lost someone to suicide. regardless of who the person was or length of time since the loss. There is hope and there is help. The group meets on the Third Wednesday of every month, 6:30pm-8:30pm At 6222 N. Chatham Ave., Kansas City, MO 64151 (In the Century 21 All-Pro office).

Information on this and many other services is available at https://encouragehopeandhelp.com/resources/survivors/
